These are the beautiful people.
No chubby, pimply-faced “C” students here.
Duke University’s finest.
The fraternity-sorority crowd.
Perfect hair and teeth, exquisite figure, fashionable, gregarious, popular.
For the past eight months I’d spoken on campus 6 or 8 times at Christian chapels.
A few of the students from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapel approached me, concerned over their Greek classmates’ lifestyle. Seems they do not come to Christian meetings. So I’ll go to them!
“If we can get a meeting up in the Phi Kappa Alpha house, will you come and preach?”
But, of course.
Our first meeting 80 students showed up. I taught as advertised on “Lasting Sexual Passion in an X-Rated World.” Then I stood for questions.
“How far is too far?”
“How do you forgive and forget your mistakes?”
“How do you know when you’ve met the one you should wed?”
I was struck by the intensity of the meeting. And its length. I got home to Burlington at one A.M.
The Greeks were polled and resoundingly agreed to meet again. Perhaps on a monthly basis.
“This made sense. May we hear further from you? It is rare to hear a logical, practical sensible, biblical explanation of issues pertinent to our collegiate world.”
Perhaps we can evangelize the entire Greek community! I’ll be back, Lord willing.
This is some of what the Carolina Study Center is all about.
Thanks for your prayers and financial partnerships that allow me to be on campus.
Love,
Stephen
