Preparing. Going. Staying. Leaving.
Did you know?
Pastors leave the ministry everyday for all sorts of reasons. And they seldom have access to resources to help them through these difficult life events.
With your help we can assist to make these traumatic events less volatile and work towards a long-term positive outcome.
What We Do for Pastors
Our favorite people are pastors. Why? Because we share with them a unique calling to serve and feed God’s people.
We also know that God’s calling is extraordinary. It is such because only God can issue the summons – men don’t take up the call to ministry of their own accord. Even more, to prepare, go, stay and leave a call needs a team of wise, experienced and helpful pastors to assist. We are here to serve!
- PREPARING
A group of second-career divinity students will learn about preaching
- GOING
A man is on his way to his first ministry and we will help him negotiate, land and take off!
- STAYING
A 3-hour lunch with a worn out pastor who is now encouraged to persevere in the Lord!
- LEAVING
A young man with a family was handed notice with no reasons or resources.
Our Spurgeon Fellows Program Assists Men Who Serve the Church – in all phases…
In the U.S. alone, there are over 200 divinity schools offering various levels of theological training. Several thousand students are enrolled, earning their degree for vocational ministry. The missing piece? On-the-ground training. An internship is valuable for preparing to serve.
Every spring, hundreds of graduates are looking for a place to labor. Five men will compete for the one opportunity available. More than that, a volunteer hiring committee from a church is not equipped to make a good hire. We provide assistance to those who are going in order that the right man falls into the right place. Our team will also assist your church through the hiring process.
Most pastors leave for reasons that could have been avoided. A handful of unhappy parishoners. A man who is too battle-weary to think clearly in the heat of the moment. A situation where peace should have been made at all costs turns to stalemate, war and casualties. Ministry transitions are costly and should be avoided. Pastors need help staying in the post God has for them. Our team is at the ready to help make staying possible for long-term health for all.
Sometimes leaving is necessary. An emotional breakdown. Some sort of moral failure. Unkind church members decide to discontinue support without notice. Burnout. Marital or family struggles. You name the stress and you’ll find a pastor, often with a family, who suddenly needs help. And a break!
